Eight Lies of My Mother

Eight Lies of My Mother

Crying Mother

The story began when I was a child; I was a son of a poor family. We did not even have enough food. When ever meal times came, mother would often give me her portion of rice. While she was removing her rice into my bowl, she would say “Eat this rice, son. I’m not hungry.”     That was Mother’s First Lie.

When I was growing up, my persevering mother gave her spare time to go fishing in a river near our house, she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit of nutritious food for my growth. After fishing, she would cook some fresh fish soup, which raised my appetite. While I was eating the soup, mother would sit beside me and eat the rest of the fish, which was still on the bone of the fish I had eaten. My heart was touched when I saw that. I then used my fork and gave the other fish to her. But she immediately refused and said “Eat this fish, son. I don’t really like fish.”     That was Mother’s Second Lie.

Then, when I was in Junior High School…… to fund my studies, mother went to an economic enterprise to bring some used-match boxes that would need to be stuck together. It gave her some money to cover our needs. As the winter came, I woke up from my sleep and looked at my mother who was still awake, supported by a little candlelight and with perseverance she would continue the work of sticking some used-match boxes. I said, “Mother, go to sleep, it’s late, tomorrow morning you still have to go to work. Mother smiled and said “Go to sleep, dear. I’m not tired.”    That was Mother’s Third Lie.

The final term arrived….. ..Mother asked for leave from work in order to accompany me. While the sun was starting to shine strongly, my persevering mother waited for me under the heat for several hours. As the bell rang, which indicated that the final exam had finished, mother immediately welcomed me and poured me a cup of tea that she had brought in a flask. Seeing my mother covered with perspiration, I at once gave her my cup and asked her to drink too. Mother said “Drink, son. I’m not thirsty!”  That was Mother’s Fourth Lie.

After the death of my father due to illness, my poor mother had to play her role as a single parent. She had to fund our needs alone. Our family’s life was more complicated. No days without suffering. Our family’s condition was getting worse, a kind uncle who lived near our house assisted now and then. Our neighbors often advised my mother to marry again. But mother was stubborn and didn’t take their advice; she said “I don’t need love.” That was Mother’s Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and got a job, it was the time for my old mother to retire. But she didn’t want to; she would go to the market place every morning, just to sell some vegetables to fulfill her needs. I, who worked in another city, often sent her some money to help her, in fulfilling her needs, but she would not accept the money. At times, she even sent the money back to me. She said “I have enough money.”   That was Mother’s Sixth Lie.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree, I then continued to do a Master’s Degree. It was funded by a company through a scholarship program. I finally worked in the company. With a good salary, I intended to bring my mother to enjoy her life in Gulf. But my lovely mother didn’t want to bother her son. She said to me, “I’m not use to.”  That was Mother’s Seventh Lie.

In her old age, mother got stomach cancer and had to be hospitalized. I, who lived miles away, across the ocean, went home to visit my dearest mother. She lay in weakness on her bed after having an operation. Mother, who looked so old, was staring at me in deep thought. She tried to spread her smile on her face…but it was a noticeable effort. It was clear that the disease had weakened mother’s body. She looked so frail and weak. I stared at my mother with tears flowing. My heart was hurt,… so hurt, seeing my mother in that condition. But mother with the little strength she had, said “Don’t cry, my dear. I’m not in pain.”   That was Mother’s Eighth and Last Lie.

After saying her eighth lie, my Dearest mother closed her eyes forever .      – Unknown

This story was NOT written by me, just copied, because I think this lady represents thousands of Mothers and Fathers across this world.

We must do our part to help them. JKM, Jim Kilgore Ministries is beginning a feeding ministry in Pakistan as I share this story with you. While JKM fed many people last Saturday, my heart was broken because we did not have enough money to feed those that came to hear the Preaching of the Gospel. I desire to start some in the Philippines and in India at the present time.

We will do this in association with evangelizing, Church-Planting and helping to sustain life as Jesus Christ DID while on earth. Can you and I do any less? If you wish to help feed, please visit our website at: http://www.JimKilgoreMinistries.com and click on the Contribution’s page.

Unforgiveness: Releasing Your Resentment

   wpid-2013-03-04-14-07-08-2082969431.jpeg

By Jim Kilgore, Missionary Evangelist

There he is.  “He makes me sick,” he thought to himself.  I never want to see or speak to that man again!

Is there someone in your life that “gets under your skin?”   Does the mere mention of their name produce a stabbing pain in your stomach?  Has this person hurt you beyond what you believe is your ability to forgive?  If so, this discussion is for.  I write to “Add Value” to my readers and I want to reassure you, that you can be released from the resentment which currently exists in your heart.

Biblical Forgiveness is the only successful method for handling unrighteous anger

Unless we are willing to release the people who have wronged us, bitterness and resentment will take up residence in our lives. Through the act of forgiveness, we can learn to let go of anger and find the freedom God desires for each of His children to possess.

Understandably, it is not easy to forgive the one whose arrow has pierced your heart.   Yet when  Christians refuses to deal Biblically with the hurt, the hurt becomes a weapon against us.   It dramatically affects us in ways we may not yet understand.

It affects your relationship with the one who has hurt you; it will most definitely affect your personal relationship with Jesus Christ; and it will have a definite impact on yourself.   There is no winner when Christians choose not to handle the hurt Biblically.

How are we to treat People that has hurt us?

1.   We are to practice Biblical forbearance.   Ephesians 4:2: “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.”

What does forbearance really mean   Forbearance is “lovingly putting up with the faults of another.”   It is a gentle spirit.  It means that I do not feel the need to challenge another’s actions or even motives as it relates to me.      It is allowing  “love to cover a multitude of sins” as commanded in I Peter.

We must learn to allow our Family and Friends to have an occasional bad day without confronting every situation.   We often, without realizing it, “Place our loved ones on Trial every day.”  We sub-consciously force them to achieve a 100% in order to get an A on the test.   This is an unrealistic standard.   Only Jesus Christ is perfect.

Colossians 3:13 “ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

2.   We are to live our the four commands Jesus taught in His “Sermon on the Mount“.  Jesus was speaking about the actions a Christian must take when dealing with those who have been hurt.  Matthew 5:44: ” But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

  • We are to demonstrate Biblical love to those that have hurt us.  You must decide the specific ways in which you can demonstrate the sacrificial love which our Lord continually demonstrated to those who hurt Him.
  • We are to bless those hurters of our souls.  The word bless carries the idea of “speaking well of another.”   Yes, this is what Jesus is telling us to do.  What?  Are you serious?  Are you kidding me”, you may be wondering.   I said God’s way WILL work;  I did not say that God’s way would be easy.   They may be critical of you;  perhaps they shared gossip about you;  they may be attempting to ruin you.  Yet Jesus said that we are to exchange hatred for love;  criticism for compliments.  Isaiah was 100% correct when he said: “God’s thought are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways.
  • After speaking well of our critic, we are now to do good unto them.   We are told to do something tangible to help the very one that is trying to destroy you!    Yes, this is what Jesus taught and expects from us.   Romans 5:8 reminds me how Jesus practiced this principle to me.  “But God commendeth (proved, demonstrated) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”   He did the same for you as well.   We who are the recipients of God’s love, grace, and mercy, how can we do anything but follow the example and extend it to others?
  • We are now required to pray for our offender.     I know what you are thinking right now.  I will pray for God to dealing harshly with them.   I have thought those thoughts myself.  How did Jesus pray for His persecutors?   Luke reveals this to us as Jesus is hanging on the cross:       “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”

A Christian cannot expect our Father to forgive us while holding an unforgiving spirit.   Matthew 6:14: “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

A FORGIVEN PEOPLE IS TO BE A FORGIVING PEOPLE

To Whom will you practice this lesson with starting today?

God’s Call to a Missionary: The Process God Used with Me

Praying

In December of 2012 God called me to leave my comfort zone and to focus on winning Souls on Every Continent to Jesus Christ. Let me share my story with you.

It all started in early December, 2012 as I was praying for God to lay specific areas of focus upon my heart. I had been praying frequently during a two day period during which time God specifically spoke to my heart about a Global Ministry. I am ashamed, but I laughed out loud, almost uncontrollably. Who was I to engage and embark upon such a massive task?
Yet after the two days of “wrestling with God” concerning this matter, I yielded to His will. I asked God to verify His call through Scripture, as He has always confirmed His leading through the Word of God. L

Listed below are the Scriptures God placed in my mind:

•  Matthew 19:26: “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

•  Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

•  John 15:5: “…. for without me ye can do nothing.”

•  Ephesians 3:20: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

I Corinthians 7:29: “But this I say, brethren, the Time IS Short…”

The first four verses confirmed that it was not “my ministry”, but God’s ministry!  Through these verses God reminded me that I Can’t, but God CAN!”  After this surrender and understanding of God’s call and leading, I began asking Him to open my eyes to understand His plan for the final quarter of my

To the best of my ability, I will share in a greater detail my understanding of JKM

1.   It all started with Prayer. “Father, what wilt Thou have me to Accomplish and to Achieve for You this year. Too much time has been spent on earthly pursuits and selfish ambitions. Please direct me to Your plan.”

2.   As I was in fervent prayer, a Spiritual Problem was presented to me. The problem was that well over 90% of the world was without Jesus Christ. There remains BILLIONS without the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Another problem God presented to my during this time was that each time my heart would beat, two souls would slip off into eternity.   Then the Holy Spirit brought yet three more Scriptures to my mind concerning this grave problem as found in Matthew 9:36-38: “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. This WAS a most serious spiritual problem.

3.   After agonizing over this spiritual problem, I soon began to see the Path which was the direction from God, beginning to open my eyes of understanding to His will.

4.   As I began to see a bit more clearly what God had in store, this path created a Spiritual Passion with-in my soul.    I Corinthians 7:29: “But this I say, brethren, the Time IS Short…” I knew that at age 58 my time was limited. If I live to be 70, I now have 11 years left. I had already lived and traveled through the first three quarters of my life. Then I began begging God to allow me to accomplish more for Him during the final quarter of my life than in the first three quarters combined! Therefore, my life began to change. I now live each day as though it were my last. I must work; I must win souls; I must start Churches all over the World; I must be willing to go wherever the light is the darkest and show all nations the Light of the World, which of course is Jesus Christ! The burning in my soul has created a passion to start Churches all over the World. I have asked my Father to plant at least one Church in EVERY Continent!

5.      The passion has led me to a Clear Purpose of God’s plan.    It is God’s will that ALL men should Repent of their sins and Receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jesus became man’s Substitute and Shed His precious and perfect Blood as payment for EVERY MAN’S sins!

6.      God’s purpose has led to a continual unfolding of the establishment of Processes    which will allow me to accomplish God’s plan.

7.     The processes lead to a daily Prioritization.     With each day’s activities I focus on those areas of activities which will lead to the accomplishment of God’s will!

As I close this lengthy article on my Missionary call,  I am going to make two simple requests of you.  One is for Fervent Prayer while the other is a Financial Plea.         Now that I have literally poured out my soul to the world, I shall share the next step in walking down God’s path for me.   Earlier I said I shared that “I can’t but that God can.”    Now I come to the role which You can play in literally reaching the World for Jesus Christ

      a.      My Prayer is that God would raise up hundreds of Christians which are committed to a    Fervency in prayer, and specifically for this ministry.     Remember John 15:5?    I believe this with all of my heart.

      b.       My Plea is for that of Financial Support.   This plea is not really for myself, but for the ministry of reaching lost souls for Jesus Christ!

JKM has the responsibility of raising money to  purchase flight tickets;  needs of just two meals a day; lodging arrangements while on the field.       I work day and night on the field.   I am truly about my Father’s business of soul-winning; Teaching Pastors;   Preaching nearly every day.

I would make my Plea for you to pray with me about INVESTING in JKM as we are focused on reaching all parts of the World with the Gospel.     Remember I Corinthians 7:29 saysBut this I say, brethren, the Time IS Short…”

Therefore I must do ALL that I can WHILE I can!

Is Somebody Somewhere Waiting for you?

Written by:   Pastor Abraham Oluwatosin Adeyemi,  Nigeria

Matthew 9:36-38 says , “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

This passage of Scripture really burdens my heart. Souls are dying every day without hope for eternity. They are going to hell forever! The question is, “what are we Christians doing about it?” We must understand that we may be the answer to someone’s prayer who has been searching for the answer to how to go to Heaven.

I just read an article from a missionary to Kenya in which he described how he traveled by canoe without having a place to sleep, not having toilet nor benches for two days, with nearly 300 people inside the canoe. But after passing through this tedious journey, and had finished the Bible teaching a man walked up to him, and told him the following: “I have been praying for someone to come and teach us the pure Word of God since 1977.” What a great answer to prayer! Is someone somewhere waiting for you in Africa, Oceania, Asia, South America, North America, or Europe to come and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

There are two things you need to consider if you want to be the person that someone is praying and waiting for.
1. You must be willing to Sacrifice.

We have many Christians that want to do something for God, but they are unwilling to sacrifice much for the cause of Christ. If you are not willing to sacrifice for Jesus Christ, or for the propagation of the Gospel, you will not accomplish anything for the Lord. What if Jesus Christ would not have sacrificed His life and shed His precious blood for us? We would not be saved and going to Heaven.

You must be willing to sacrifice your time and your money in the service for Jesus. It is Jesus Christ which gives you money and wealth; you are expected to give back to His cause.

I have asked this question many times, “If the Lord blesses you with one million dollars, how would you spend it?” To be honest, and with the help of God, I will travel in Africa and Asia preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What about you? Christians are relaxed about building a fancy building and buying luxury things, but people are dying and going to hell every second of every day!

2. You must be willing to leave your Comfort Zone.

Here comes the real problem. We have come to enjoy all the beautiful things in our countries with the beautiful houses, expensive cars, and a good clean environment. This problem is why so many places are unreached because we Christians have been unwilling to leave our comfort zone to sit is a strange seat. Islam is the fastest growing religion because they are moving around from country to country. Jesus said, “the harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborers are few.” He wants us to see the need to reach the world.

                                     A Missionary Cry
A hundred thousand souls a day, are passing one by one away.
In Christ-less guilt and gloom, without one ray of hope or light.
With future dark as endless night, they are passing to their doom, they are passing to their doom.
They are passing, passing fast away. In thousands day and day, they are passing to their doom, they are passing to their doom.

Jude 22: “And of some having compassion, making a difference.”

Having Done All

By Pastor Randall Glenn Calvary Baptist Church of Crawfordsville, Indiana

The phrase in Ephesians 6:13 “… having done all, stand” is resounding in my mind. As God knew the hour of the flood, so He knows the hour His Son, Jesus Christ will come to take Christians to their eternal home.
Noah did not! All Noah knew was to do what God had commanded. He did not know the hour of the flood as we do not know the hour of the Rapture. When we look at Noah, we see that having done all, he stood!

Christians need to take a Stand for Jesus Christ

1. There is an IDLE stand
Acts 1:11 says: “…Why stand ye gazing..?” Why are so many Believers standing around gazing when we should be preparing for the return of Jesus Christ? Why are we idle? Have we forgotten the warning that our Savior is coming? We must stop gazing and get busy for God! Having done all to stand in the work.

2. There is the BELIEVING stand

I Corinthians 16:13 exhorts us to “Stand fast in the faith.” Noah had to believe in order to save his family. He had never seen rain or a flood just as we have never experienced the coming of Jesus Christ. However, I believe He is coming, just as He promised!

3. There is the DEFENSE stand

Ephesians 6:11 “…stand against the wiles of the devil.” The wickedness of man was so prominent that Noah had to face and fight the enemy daily, just as we must. I am certain Satan used discouragement, weariness, ridicule against Noah, but he stood his ground against the Devil.

4. There is the UNITY stand

Philippians 1:27: “stand fast in ONE spirit.” Noah saved his family. What a task to maintain unity in the family. Working together to accomplish the task was daunting. Our Churches must learn unity in order to accomplish the mission of God. Working together in the Spirit and witnessing what God can do through His people. How sweet it is when a Church is unified for the Cause of Christ!

5. There is the WATCHFUL stand

Isaiah 21:8: “I stand in the watchtower.” Noah was working while he was watching. Watching for the distractions which could lead him away from his work. Watching to ensure he was doing exactly as God had commanded.

6. There is the PURITY stand

II Chronicles 35:5: “Stand in the holy place.” To refer to the ark as “Noah’s ark” is technically incorrect. Noah was the employee while God was the Employer. It was God’s blueprint; it was God that supplied the material; it was God that gathered the animals into the ark. It was ALL of God! The ark was the holy place for Noah’s family. The Church ought to be a holy place! God is the Provider and the Protector of His Church.

7. There is the SALVATION stand

II Chronicles 20:17: “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” Noah preached one message all those years and did not waver! He preached the mercy of God which was available to all that would repent. Salvation can only come through repentance of sin, and in asking God to forgive that sin. With genuine repentance, anyone could have entered the ark of God.

We desperately need more Christians like Noah who will be willing to take a strong, uncompromising stand for Jesus Christ!   Will you be what God needs in this day of spiritual darkness and compromise? Having done all, we MUST stand!

Pastor, How Can I REALLY Live a Life of Victory?

wpid-images-7.jpeg

Christians EVERYWHERE are asking the same Question about Victory!

As I have traveled across America, and in several Countries, one question which I can count on being asked of me is: “Pastor, can I REALLY Live a Life of Victory as a Christian?”   This of course saddens me deeply, knowing that so many good, loving Believers are struggling to live a life of Victory.

I shall continue teaching on this subject for a few weeks, as there is an intense desire in my heart to help elevate your walk with God.   To truly walk with God is to walk in Victory.   As I pen these words, I am envisioning you sitting across my desk, asking for my counsel from your question.  May I first acknowledge your desire?  I applaud you for searching for this answer.  Now, as you and I are sitting across the desk, let us pray right now expressing this to our Father.

A Prayer to our Father for Victory

Our Father, my dear Brother/Sister in Christ has come for spiritual assistance.   They have been struggling in their walk with You.  At times they have been very close to you; yet at other times had felt distance in the relationship.   Today, we come together with a desire on our hearts.  That desire is to live a life of Victory.   We claim Psalm 37:4 where YOU Promised to give us the desires of our hearts IF we would only delight in you.  Father, our delight is in You!   You are our joy!  We love You and desperately wish to honor You with our hearts and lives.  Now we ask, and even claim the promise of receiving the desires of our hearts.  Please help my dear friend to experience a life of sustained Victory.   Amen.

It is Definitely Possible to Live in Victory!

Everyone faces difficult situations; however, there is no need to allow them to rob you of your victory and joy! This is what was happening in the Book of Philippians.  The Christians in the Church at Philippi has four major thieves robbing Christians of their Joy and Victory.  Let me show you.

  1. The first Thief of Joy is  Circumstances.

In Philippians, Paul was in jail and it appeared to many that it was a bad thing.  Not so to Paul.  The attitude Paul had, was that God allowed circumstances to enter into his life for the express purpose of leading others to Jesus.   Notice Philippians 1:12-14:  “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;  13So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;     14And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”    Paul said it became a good thing that he had been arrested as he had won more people to Christ and in fact, other Christians who previously were fearful of witnessing, had become soul-winners for God.

  1. 2.      The second thief of Victory is People

Each of us have lost our joy because of People at some point in our lives.  Paul issued the prescription to overcome this thief in Philippians 2:1-3:  Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.   3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.   4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

  1. 3.      The third thief Victory are Things

People are ALWAYS wanting more! Never really satisfied. This insatiable craving will never be fully satisfied though seeking possessions.  Eleven times in this chapter Paul uses the word things.  In Philippians 3:19, Paul points out that MOST Christians “…..mind earthly things.”  Your solution is to focus on “Heavenly things”., Philippians 3:20.

  1. 4.      The fourth thief of Victory is Worry.

Worry means to be pulled apart.  Our fears pull us in one direction while our Faith pulls us in the opposite direction.  Worry is really saying to God, “This is too big for even you God!   I have no hope!  I cannot expect any relief from heaven!   Worry is an inside job which will completely remove ALL joy and energy from your life.  However, worry is like a rocking chair in that both will provide you with something to do, yet neither will get you anywhere.

Why worry when you CAN trust our Omnipotent, Compassionate, Omnipresent Father who loves you so much that He provided for your greatest need by sending His Son, Jesus to pay your sin debt for you?  Wow!    I decided that since I trusted God with my eternal, never-dying soul to take me to heaven many years ago, whom I barely knew, then I could now trust Him to provide, protect, and work on my behalf.

What are some thieves that have been robbing you of your Victory and Joy recently?  And what steps will you take to remove that thief?  Please take a moment and share your thoughts.
