I Want to Live the Victorious Christian Life: Signed: Tired of Living in Defeat!

Mountain

Living the Abundant Christian life is undoubtedly the greatest need for many Christians. Perhaps even you are reading this to find out what a Life of Victory is all about. The good news is that Jesus has freely offered the Abundant Christian Life to EVERY Christian. Jesus said in John 10:10: “…..I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

What exactly is this abundant life Jesus has offered to me?

The Abundant Christian Life is one of continual Victory! It is one which has the following Characteristics:

1. You will know blessings such as “Specific Answers to Prayer.”
James 5: 16 – 18 says: “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Elijah was living the type of life Jesus was referring to. He experienced power with God through prayer, and what a prayer it was!

The Person Living in Victory Will Receive Regular Answers to Specific Prayers

2. You will receive fresh insights from your time alone with God.

You will find yourself saying often, “I have never seen this before as you study you Bible. What fresh insights have you discovered lately from your Bible reading? A few this week for me were:

* The Devil will leave after we resist him, BUT he will come back (Luke 4:13).
* David fought the giant Goliath by himself, but he needed others to help him defeat the other giants. There are some battles that we can fight alone, but many times we NEED the other Christians to help us as we fight the battle.

3. You will begin gaining victory over sin in your life. You can and should be getting victory over sin in your life. You do not have to say yes to every temptation and commit sin. The tragedy is that most Believers do not put up much of a fight. Most have no idea how to use the “Armor of God” and in what particular situation. (Another study soon to arrive here).

4. You will experience great Joy. Psalm 16:11 says: ” Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” God desires that you have “joy unspeakable and full of glory” (I Peter 1:8). You can have joy in spite of adverse circumstances; in spite of another’s treatment of you; in spite of the economic condition when you are living in victory.
Psalm 51:12 says: “Restore unto me the JOY of Thy salvation…” We can get the joy back into our lives! It comes through Prayer and spending time in the Presence of God.

Are you living in Victory or in Defeat? Defeat brings the following characteristics: Discouragement; Fear; a Critical spirit; an Unforgiving spirit; Envy; and a life committing the same sins over and again.

This life can be yours by sincerely doing the following:

1. It begins with SALVATION. Romans 10:13 promises you that: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2. SIN must be dealt with each day. I John 1:9 promises the Christian: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Confess means to agree with God against your sin. Ask His forgiveness sincerely, and Jesus WILL forgive ALL your sins!

3. SUBMISSION to the Scriptures. This is Obedience to the Bible.

Pastor, How Can I REALLY Live a Life of Victory?

wpid-images-7.jpeg

Christians EVERYWHERE are asking the same Question about Victory!

As I have traveled across America, and in several Countries, one question which I can count on being asked of me is: “Pastor, can I REALLY Live a Life of Victory as a Christian?”   This of course saddens me deeply, knowing that so many good, loving Believers are struggling to live a life of Victory.

I shall continue teaching on this subject for a few weeks, as there is an intense desire in my heart to help elevate your walk with God.   To truly walk with God is to walk in Victory.   As I pen these words, I am envisioning you sitting across my desk, asking for my counsel from your question.  May I first acknowledge your desire?  I applaud you for searching for this answer.  Now, as you and I are sitting across the desk, let us pray right now expressing this to our Father.

A Prayer to our Father for Victory

Our Father, my dear Brother/Sister in Christ has come for spiritual assistance.   They have been struggling in their walk with You.  At times they have been very close to you; yet at other times had felt distance in the relationship.   Today, we come together with a desire on our hearts.  That desire is to live a life of Victory.   We claim Psalm 37:4 where YOU Promised to give us the desires of our hearts IF we would only delight in you.  Father, our delight is in You!   You are our joy!  We love You and desperately wish to honor You with our hearts and lives.  Now we ask, and even claim the promise of receiving the desires of our hearts.  Please help my dear friend to experience a life of sustained Victory.   Amen.

It is Definitely Possible to Live in Victory!

Everyone faces difficult situations; however, there is no need to allow them to rob you of your victory and joy! This is what was happening in the Book of Philippians.  The Christians in the Church at Philippi has four major thieves robbing Christians of their Joy and Victory.  Let me show you.

  1. The first Thief of Joy is  Circumstances.

In Philippians, Paul was in jail and it appeared to many that it was a bad thing.  Not so to Paul.  The attitude Paul had, was that God allowed circumstances to enter into his life for the express purpose of leading others to Jesus.   Notice Philippians 1:12-14:  “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;  13So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;     14And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”    Paul said it became a good thing that he had been arrested as he had won more people to Christ and in fact, other Christians who previously were fearful of witnessing, had become soul-winners for God.

  1. 2.      The second thief of Victory is People

Each of us have lost our joy because of People at some point in our lives.  Paul issued the prescription to overcome this thief in Philippians 2:1-3:  Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.   3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.   4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

  1. 3.      The third thief Victory are Things

People are ALWAYS wanting more! Never really satisfied. This insatiable craving will never be fully satisfied though seeking possessions.  Eleven times in this chapter Paul uses the word things.  In Philippians 3:19, Paul points out that MOST Christians “…..mind earthly things.”  Your solution is to focus on “Heavenly things”., Philippians 3:20.

  1. 4.      The fourth thief of Victory is Worry.

Worry means to be pulled apart.  Our fears pull us in one direction while our Faith pulls us in the opposite direction.  Worry is really saying to God, “This is too big for even you God!   I have no hope!  I cannot expect any relief from heaven!   Worry is an inside job which will completely remove ALL joy and energy from your life.  However, worry is like a rocking chair in that both will provide you with something to do, yet neither will get you anywhere.

Why worry when you CAN trust our Omnipotent, Compassionate, Omnipresent Father who loves you so much that He provided for your greatest need by sending His Son, Jesus to pay your sin debt for you?  Wow!    I decided that since I trusted God with my eternal, never-dying soul to take me to heaven many years ago, whom I barely knew, then I could now trust Him to provide, protect, and work on my behalf.

What are some thieves that have been robbing you of your Victory and Joy recently?  And what steps will you take to remove that thief?  Please take a moment and share your thoughts.

Your Personal Vision: This WILL be the Difference Maker

by

In a recent leadership survey 72% of people who answered the survey, indicated they were looking for  a leader who was forward-looking.  That is, 72% were saying they wanted to follow a leader that could provide hope of a better tomorrow than what they were experiencing todaySomeone once said, that the best way  to lead people in the future is to connect with them in the present.   People naturally want to accomplish some special and significant.  It is the job of the leader to provide that hope of a much better tomorrow through the achievement of the dream.

A Man Walking on the Moon:  Are you Serious?

I remember, as a young person when former President, John F. Kennedy cast an amazing vision that captivated our entire nation on May 25, 1960 by articulating a vision which remains an example of how to excite and to enlist people for your cause. I quote him, “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth.”

No one in America could have dared dream of watching a man walk around on the moon dust during that era. What was so remarkable about this vision was that a mere 50 years earlier, almost all Americans were traveling by horse and buggy!  Yet by July of 1969, men were actually walking on the moon! They had a Vision, they had a Strategy, and ultimately, they experienced great deal of success!

What made this “Miracle”  even  Possible ?

How could this happen so quickly? To begin with, the Leadership painted a picture of what success would look like for them. This vision was specific and crystal clear.  To American, success was found in placing a man on the moon and then returning him home safely. This vision was big enough to inspire an entire nation. I know, because I was an older teenager when man walked on the moon’s surface, and I can vividly remember the excitement which swept across America.

IMPLEMENTING  the  VISION

I cannot even imagine the action steps which were required for the “Team to achieve the Dream.”     This is where so many people and their Teams seem to stumble and falter with their dream. For creating actionable steps requires an enormous amount of time and thought. Then you must place the steps in sequential order.

On top of the above planning steps, Leadership must now decide “How” to communicate the vision. A critical principle I have learned over the years in communicating the that this communication must be continual!    Some leaders mistakenly believe they can communicate the Dream to the Team,  once,  or possibly even twice and expect the dream “to take off.”   This, quite frankly,  is not going to happen in most cases! All of Leadership must  continually communicate the same message often in order to keep the dream ever before the people.

Again, this is where even good Leaders fail. Thinking it is enough to communicate the vision one time and that the team will stay focused on it is rather ludicrous. People lose focus by nature. Their minds shift. Their daily priorities begin to shift. Keeping the Dream before the Team will keep everyone calibrated toward what is really most important.

In closing, let me provide the outline I have used many time in dealing with the subject of Creating your Vision.

1)   Create the Vision.  Draw a portrait  with words and pictures, of what success will look like for you.

2)  Be Clear and Specific.  What steps are needed, and in what precise order, will lead me to the accomplishment of the dream?

3)  The vision must be Compelling.  A small dream never excites anyone.  Dream big!!

What is your BIG “Man on the Moon” Idea?   What would you do if you “KNEW” that you could not fail?  To know that all you had to do was to execute the plan and success would be certain?

4)  The vision must be Calibrated.   There will be times in which you will need to tweak the action steps.

5) There must be a time of Celebration.  Take time to celebrate success along the way with the team.  This creates momentum.

Remember, Dream Big Dreams, for Small dreams inspire no one.
